About the author

Norma Fischer

Norma Bristol Fischer was born 1943 in Concord, Massachusetts in America.  She trained as an artist at Ringling Art School in Florida, New School, New York City and graduated from the University of Florida.

She is an author, illustrator, composer and playwright for children.

Married in 1965 to Swiss Hans Fischer, she is a citizen of both countries. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren.

Her books are:

  • “Who Could Love an Ugly Toad?”  Moody Press, 1972 to 1983, sold in 1,200 bookstores across America. It is currently in print in Albania and broadcast over 5 radio towers in that country and surrounding nations.  
  • “Eye Witness” was published by Christian Growth Ministries in 1975. An updated version is going online.
  • After moving to Switzerland, she published:“The Gift”, in German titled “Das Geschenk” 1994 by Wort des GlaubensVerlag in Kirchheim.  ISBN 3-924054-54-1.
  • The Albanian version “Dhurata” came out in 1995. A second printing with all new illustrations appeared in 2005.Norma and Hans moved to Belgium from Switzerland in 1999.The Ukrainian version of “The Gift” was published by Life Publishers, Ukraine, 2005.Rumanian translation, entitled “Cadoul”, was published by Life Publishers Romania, 2005.
  • In 2006, the musical “The Gift” was performed in Tirana, Albania and in 2012 in Brussels in Dutch, French and English. It was performed again in Albania in 2015 and several times since.Story and music is presently broadcast over five radio towers to Albania and several other countries.
